About me

Bev is an experienced registered nurse who has worked across two healthcare systems, both in the UK and Australia. Her background is in critical care nursing, and she has held many leadership positions across both healthcare systems including clinical nurse manager and Nurse Consultant. Bev completed her PhD in 2015 which applied an interpretive biographical approach to the experiences of critical care survivors using a novel intervention to support recovery following their critical care experience. She has been an academic for over 15 years in WA, during which time she has held several senior leadership positions including Associate Head of School and Associate Dean. Her areas of expertise include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing, curriculum development, leadership and mentorship, and academic integrity. Bev is committed to community engagement and is currently the chair of a WA/SA healthcare ethics committee. Her research interests include critical care recovery, chronic condition management, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' health and wellbeing, ICU patient diaries and clinical deterioration. She is currently supervising several higher degree by research students and leading research projects with interprofessional colleagues.
